Lani Brock is available to perform for wedding ceremonies, funerals, anniversaries and other events. The following are some common questions/concerns about hiring a vocalist to perform for these types of events:
Will the voice be loud enough for my event?
The voice itself, in classical fashion, is quite resonant and the music can usually be heard throughout most venues. The voice can also be amplified to ensure adequate volume, particularly in large outdoor spaces.
What kind of songs do you sing?
I have a large repertoire comprising many genres of vocal music, including classical, Hawaiian, folk, jazz, pop, celtic, and contemporary. I usually play a little of everything, depending on the formality and tone of the event. If you have a genre you particularly like, please let me know so I can be sure to sing your favorite kind of music. For a complete repertoire list, click on the "Ask Lani" button at the bottom of this page.
Can you play with other musicians?
I have several colleagues with whom I perform, and I’m happy to use a background keyboard or orchestral accompaniment CD or mp3. I may also set up an ensemble for your event if you prefer a chamber group instead-such as voice/keyboard, voice/ukulele, voice/guitar, voice/harp, etc. Rates will vary depending on instrumentation.
Can you perform outside?
Yes, but the voice is a delicate instrument and some provisions need to be made for outdoor events. The voice can also be amplified to make sure enough sound is produced in large outdoor spaces.
What songs do you recommend for my wedding?
I generally ask couples to choose music for the processionals, recessional, and any special musical moments within the ceremony (i.e. sand ceremony, candle lighting, ring exchange, etc). Here are some recommendations:
Processionals
Interludes/Recessionals
If there is a particular song you'd like me to sing, I am happy to accommodate special requests and learn new pieces if given advanced notice. A small fee will be added if I need
to purchase new sheet music.
